The Grand Haven volleyball team continued their post-season run with a four-set victory against Traverse City Central on Tuesday evening.

The Bucs won with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-18.

“We played tight and a little nervous in the first two sets tonight,” said head coach Aaron Smaka. “Then in the third and fourth sets, we took control of the match.”

“Traverse City Central played some great defense and frustrated us a little early in the match, but then we controlled the tempo for the rest of the night.”

Mallory Woiteshek and Izzy Whittaker led the offense with 17 kills and 15 kills, respectively. Taylor Smaka chipped in 25 digs and Sara Weber contributed 33 assists.

Reghan Miller tallied four aces from the line for the Bucs.

“In our last two matches, we have defeated two conference champions in Mona Shores and Traverse City Central who were both about 35-5 on the season,” said Smaka. “We are playing the best volleyball of our season and excited for Thursday night.”

Grand Haven (33-17) will be in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday to face Rockford in the regional final.
