MT. PLEASANT – The Grand Haven volleyball team earned their third Division 1 regional title in program history on Thursday.
The Bucs prevailed over Rockford in four sets, 25-21, 27-25, 21-25 and 25-15.
“Rockford is a great program with a great coach and they bested us three times this year,” said Grand Haven coach Aaron Smaka. “We keep getting better and we keep on improving every single day.”
Mallory Woiteshek led with 19 kills and 16 digs, while Izzy Whittaker had 17 kills. Sara Weber added 42 assists and 14 digs. Taylor Smaka added to the defense with 29 digs.
Grand Haven (34-17) advanced to Tuesday’s state quarterfinal match at Hudsonville. The Bucs are slated to face Forest Hills Northern at 6 p.m.
