BROOKLYN – Hart’s Jessica Jazwinski ran to a state title in the Division 3 girls cross country meet on Saturday.

Jazwinski finished in 17:08.8, a full 40 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.

In the team meet, Jackson Lumen Christi captured first place with 140, followed by Traverse City St. Francis with 177 and Elk Rapids with 190.

Hart finished 10th with 285 and Kent City was 14th with 365.

In the boys’ race, the Pirate boys finished 10th. Leading the way was freshman Robert Jazwinski III with a third-place finish.

Traverse City St. Francis won the team event with 113, followed by St. Louis with 175 and Grand Rapids Covenant Christian with 209.

The area also had individual state qualifiers from a handful of schools.The top 30 runners in each race earned all-state honors.
