LUDINGTON — Grand Haven benefited from a turnover plagued Ludington girls basketball team Tuesday night to walk away with a 48-19 non-conference win.

The game was played in Ludington’s Hawley Gymnasium, but the Buccaneers were the ones who made themselves at home.

Gillian Sorrelle led all scorers with 14 points for Grand Haven, while Mallory Woiteshek added 10. Emerson Berndt distributed three assists, while Woiteshek picked off four steals and blocked three shots.

Woiteshek, Abby Sponaas and Eden Smith finished with five rebounds apiece.

Peyton Welch and Jordyn Anderson scored four points apiece to lead Ludington. Madelyn Kenyon had three.

Grand Haven took over after the Orioles scored the first point of the game, opening up a 12-1 lead after one quarter. The Buccaneers had a 15-7 advantage in the second period and enjoyed a 27-8 halftime lead. It was 41-13 at the end of three.

Next up for the Buccaneers is a home game with Reeths-Puffer on Friday night.

Ludington opens West Michigan Conference Lakes Division play at home against Oakridge.
