GRAND RAPIDS – It was a rough night on the road for the Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks.
In the end, the Jayhawks dropped a 65-54 decision to the Calvin University jayvee team.
MCC struggled right from the start and fell behind 21-14 after one quarter. The second quarter was a bit better and the Jayhawks trailed 31-27 at the half.
Calvin outscored the Jayhawks 18-12 in the third quarter and 16-15 in the last quarter.
“Our intensity was a factor throughout the game,” MCC coach Jason Cooper said. “Calvin was the aggressors on the court. We are still working out the kinks.”
MCC (5-3) was led by Arrionna Williams with 18 points, five rebounds and three steals. Ty’veonna Davis added 14 points and Remi Sponseller had 12 points and five rebounds. Alexis McMahon pulled down eight rebounds and McKena Wilson had six points.
The Jayhawks have some work to do in the next couple weeks before their next match up at Mott Community College for a two-day tournament. The Lady Jayhawks will face Schoolcraft College on Dec. 15 and Mott Community College on Dec. 16.
