RAVENNA – Attention to detail and a strong defensive presence pushed Ravenna’s girls basketball team to a 35-28 win over Shelby on Friday.

The Bulldogs were strong on the boards, limiting their opportunities at second chance buckets. Defensively, Ravenna did a nice job forcing Shelby into low-percentage shots.

Ravenna was led by Emily Postema with 11 points. Matteson Crowley and Addison Gillard each chipped in nine points.

Molli Schultz was Shelby’s top scorer with 10 points and Biloxi Lee threw in seven rebounds.

Shelby (4-7, 2-5 WMC Rivers) continued on its losing streak, dropping a sixth straight contest. The Tigers will hope a non-conference contest will be enough to right the ship when they host Oakridge on Tuesday.

Ravenna (4-7, 2-4 WMC Rivers) improved its conference standing with the win. The Bulldogs will travel to White Cloud on Monday for a meeting with the Indians.
