HOLLAND – The Spring Lake boys swimming team swam to a 2-1 finish in a quad meet at Holland Aquatic Center on Tuesday.

The Lakers topped host Holland (114-46) and Mona Shores (118-58), but fell to Zeeland (124-59).

“Overall, I thought we swam okay,” said Spring Lake coach Mick Homan. “We didn’t have the awesome energy we had last weekend, but we know at this part of the season there will be some off days on swims and dives.”

The evening was highlighted as the 400-free relay team of Johnny Wachter, Alex Strauss, Ryan Fisher and Noah Fletcher posted a new state and MISCA meet cut with a second-place finish and season-best time of 3:30.38.

Fletcher also bagged wins in the 200IM (2:09.08) and 100 free (49.17). Wachter came in second place in the 50 free (22.42) and 100 free (49.38). Also, the 200-free relay squad of Fletcher, Matt Daudelin, Kyle Eacker and Wachter finished second with a time of 1:33.50.

“We just have to learn from each meet and work 1 percent harder each day for the next swim meet,” said Homan. “When we put the work in, things will work out in the end.”

Spring Lake will travel to face the Orioles of Ludington on Thursday.
