FREMONT – The Fremont boys basketball team earned a 65-43 Division 2 district victory over Kent City to open the tournament on Monday night.

“I thought we did a good job of moving the ball against Kent City’s zone,” said Fremont coach Adam Bowen. “We got good shots as a result, and we made the most of our opportunities.”

The Packers had four players score in the double digits.

Redick Powell scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Gavin Richards posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Chaz Miller chipped in 12 points, seven assists and four steals. Will DeBlake added 11 points for the Packers.

Fremont (9-14) will host Sparta for the next round of district play on Wednesday.

Kent City ended the season with a record of 8-15.
