HESPERIA – The Ravenna boys basketball team employed a strong halfcourt trap in the second quarter to establish a lead over host Hesperia in the first round of Division 3 district action on Monday. 

The Bulldogs led 29-23 by halftime and stretched their lead to a 63-53 victory.

“The guys learned a valuable lesson tonight,” said Ravenna coach Courtney Kemp. “Nothing this time of year is given. It must be earned.”

Dylan May led the Bulldogs with 17 points, while Blake Homoly and Drew Mabrito added 13 points apiece.

The Panthers’ Nicholas Guarnieri led all scorers with 19 points. He also had seven rebounds and five assists.

Ravenna (13-10) will take on White Cloud at 7 p.m.  Wednesday in the district semifinal at Hesperia.
