MUSKEGON – The Spring Lake boys basketball team cruised to a 57-32 win against Montague in the Division 2 district opener on Monday evening. 

The game was played at Orchard View.

The Lakers took a 30-17 lead at the half and maintained that momentum through the second half.

Eli Morrison led the Lakers with 18 points and Ayden Ayers threw in nine points. Zach Schlepp scored seven points and pulled down eight rebounds. Jaden Core had five points, six assists and five rebounds.

The defensive front of Wren Deephouse and Colin Burt were credited with playing tough defense for the Lakers.

The Wildcats’ Owen Raeth scored 10 points.

Spring Lake (11-12) will be back at Orchard View at 7 p.m. Wednesday to face unbeaten Whitehall.

Montague wrapped up the season at 13-10.
