KENTWOOD – The Grand Haven girls basketball team took a tough 57-55 OK-Red loss to East Kentwood in the closing seconds on Friday.

Freshman Mallory Woiteshek led Grand Haven with a double-double of 23 points, 21 rebounds, four blocks and two steals.

The Bucs came out hot and went on a 16-4 run going into the second quarter, but East Kentwood fought back to lead 36-30 at the half.

It was a back-and-forth second half. The Buc’s Abbey Klumpel hit a step-back 3 to tie it at 55-all with 28 seconds left. However, East Kentwood had an answer and stole the lead back with seven seconds left to play and captured the victory.
