LUDINGTON — Ludington senior David Shillinger scored 41 points Friday night to break Mason County’s all-time scoring record held by Steve Griswold of Mason County Eastern.

Shillinger scored 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Orioles boys basketball team outscored the Benzie Central Huskies 18-11 to pull away for a 65-55 non-conference win in Ludington.

Trailing 32-26 late in the first half, the Orioles went on a 6-0 run with 1:30 left in the second quarter and pulled into a 32-32 tie at the break.

The Orioles outscored the Huskies 15-12 in the third to take a 47-44 lead.

Cameron Gunsell scored 14 points for the Orioles and Spencer Holmes added eight.

Miles Pritchett had 20 points to lead the Huskies while Jaxon Childers added 13.

Ludington concludes the regular season 16-6 and will play in the district tournament at Manistee on Wednesday night against the winner of the Manistee-Big Rapids first-round game.
