HOLTON – The Hart girls basketball team took a trip to Holton on Saturday for a 66-28 win over the Red Devils.

Hart took no time getting out in front as they used good ball movement and strong defense in the first quarter to give them an early 16-6 lead. Though the defense let the Red Devils get 15 points in the second quarter, the Pirates’ offense always answered and managed to extend their lead to 33-21 at the break.

Turnovers and transition buckets in the second half proved to me the nail in the coffin as Hart found easy buckets to draw the curtain on Holton.

“Playing three games in a week is tough. I feel that the team handled it well,” Hart coach Travis Rosema said. “We got contributions from multiple different players and learned a lot about ourselves this week.”

Addi Hovey led the Pirates with 15 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Rilynn Porter and Kelsey Copenhaver each added 14 points while Abby Hicks had 12.

Hart (10-3, 7-0 WMC Rivers) remained undefeated in the conference with the win. The Pirates will head home for a meeting with North Muskegon on Tuesday.

Holton (11-4, 4-4 WMC Rivers) will travel to Newaygo on Tuesday for a matchup with the Lions.
