RAVENNA – It wasn’t always pretty for Hart’s boys basketball team in a 48-43 win over Ravenna on Tuesday, and the Pirates were more than OK with that.

While the offense wasn’t clicking for Hart, their fundamentals and team mentality managed to push them to victory. Great defensive effort, rebounding, deflections, diving for loose balls and taking charges all proved to be key factors for the Pirates.

Still, Hart trailed 22-21 at halftime. That script was flipped on its head in the game’s final two periods, however, as sophomore Caleb Ackley became the focal point and helped put Hart in front.

Ackley posted a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. Blake Weirich was Hart’s top scorer at 17 points, adding 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

Hart (10-9, 7-2 WMC Rivers) have now won their last four conference games and have another big one in front of them as they travel to North Muskegon on Friday for a meeting with the unbeaten Norse.

Ravenna (10-9, 6-4 WMC Rivers) will look to get back in the win column on Friday when they take the trip to north to face Mason County Central.
