ESCANABA – The Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks traveled to the Upper Peninsula on Saturday in hopes of handing the Bay College Norse their first league loss of the season.
It nearly happened as the Jayhawks fell 76-71 in a game where the outcome hung in the balance until the very end. The Lady Jayhawks had a 16-point lead in the third quarter, but fouls and turnovers helped the Norse pull back even.
“First, I want to say how proud I am of my team,” MCC coach Jason Cooper said. “They battled and played very hard. We didn’t get the outcome we wanted today, but we are improving each game.”
The teams were tied at 15-all after one quarter before the Lady Jayhawks surged to a 39-30 halftime lead. MCC led 57-52 after three quarters
