Bradley Richards became Fruitport Calvary Christian’s all-time leading scorer on Friday night in a 65-52 win over Hesperia.
Richards scored 18 points and pulled down 17 rebounds for the Eagles. He now has 1,710 career points and surpassed 2002 graduate Steven Herbert.
Herbert was present at the game and presented Richards with the game ball.
Hesperia led 23-15 at the end of the first quarter, but the Eagles went on a 25-9 second-quarter run to take a 40-32 advantage at halftime.
Fruitport Calvary outscored the Panthers 14-8 during the third quarter to take a 54-40 advantage heading into the final quarter.
“We saw this Hesperia squad beat some other good teams, so we knew we were in for a battle,” said Eagles coach Brad Richards. “Once again, our guys committed to each other and everyone stayed mentally tough for 32 minutes.”
Sam Zelenka was the leading scorer for Fruitport Calvary with 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds and six assists, while Quinn Swanson added 19 points and four assists.
Hesperia was paced by Ethan O’Neil with 13 points. Bruce Billings and Ian Fox each scored 12.
The Eagles improved to 10-6 overall on the season.
