SPRING LAKE – The Spring Lake girls basketball team came out on top 29-27 in a tight battle with Zeeland West on Thursday evening.
The lead went back and forth over the first three quarter. The Lakers led 22-21 going into the fourth quarter. Zeeland West came out on a run and pulled ahead, but the Lakers fought back to tie it at 27-all with 1:30 left to play.
Spring Lake’s Ella Andree scooped up a loose ball and set up a Breanna Kirby fast break for the game-winner.
Alexa Carter led the Lakers with 12 points and Andree chipped in eight points. Brooke Bolthouse added six points.
Spring Lake (15-6, 9-5) has the No. 1 seed and a bye in the first round of the Division 2 district tournament. The Lakers will play the winner of Whitehall-Oakridge.
