FRUITPORT – The Fremont girls’ basketball team capped off their regular season with a solid 44-31 win over Fruitport on Thursday.

The Packers led 24-11 by halftime and held off the Trojans for the remainder of the game.

“It wasn’t always pretty, but we found a way to build a lead and keep it there,” said Fremont coach Pete Zerfas.

Taylor DeKuiper led the way for the Packers with 11 points, 15 rebounds and five steals. Khaila Noordyk added eight points and six rebounds, while Olivia Hansen had six points and seven rebounds. Riley Chase chipped in six points.

Izzy Hanson-Wilbur led Fruitport with 19 points and six rebounds.

Fremont (17-5, 12-0) will be at Newaygo for district action on Wednesday. The Packers will face the winner of Monday’s Sparta- Newaygo.

Fruitport (5-17, 0-14) will host Orchard View in the Division 2 district opener on Monday.
