MUSKEGON – The Western Michigan Christian boys basketball team topped Muskegon Catholic Central, 57-45, in an Alliance League matchup on Friday night.

The teams were neck and neck in the first quarter and ended in a 10-all standoff. However, the Warriors found a groove and pulled ahead 25-17 at halftime. The lead continued throughout the second half as the Warriors outscored the Crusaders, 32-28.

Ben Moorhead led the Warriors with 11 points, while Eli Malek and Derrick Ashley scored 10 and nine points, respectively. 

The Crusaders’ Owen Lyonnais led all scorers with 20 points and grabbed four rebounds. Q Lorenz added eight points and three steals. Will Fedewa chipped in six points, four rebounds and two steals.

WMC (8-8, 2-0) will travel to Kalamazoo Christian on Monday.

Muskegon Catholic Central (4-15, 1-5) will be at home for league play against Grand Rapids West Michigan Aviation Academy on Tuesday.
