Nine area bowling teams competed in the MHSAA state final team event on Friday at various sites around the state.
Eight state champions were crowned after Friday’s event.
On Saturday, state titles in singles will be contested.
 
Division 1
The Grand Haven boys and girls teams both qualified for state.

The Buccaneer boys qualified fourth in the morning session with 3,571. Their high baker game was a 225 and their team games were 999 and 937.

In the match play, fourth-seeded Grand Haven lost to the fifth seed Grandville, 3-1, in the best-of-five series. Grandville went on to win the state title.

The Grand Haven girls finished eight in the qualifying round with a 2,962. Their high baker game was 191 and they rolled team games of 915 and 790. In match play, the Bucs won the first two games, but lost the last three, including a one-pin loss in the fourth game that would have clinched the victory.
 
Division 3

The Oakridge boys finished 10th while the Eagles girls were ninth and Orchard View finished 10th.

The Oakridge boys had a high baker game of 198 and team games of 906 and 1,000. The Eagle girls had a 201 baker game and rolled a 717 and 731 in the team games.

Orchard View’s highlight was a 200 baker game. Their team games were 773 and 715 for a 2,729.

None of the teams advanced to the afternoon match play.
 
Division 4

Holton and Ravenna both sent their boys and girls team to the state finals.

The Ravenna girls were the only team to advance to match play after finishing seventh in the qualifying round. The Bulldogs lost to No. 2 Bronson 3-2 in games in the quarterfinal round. In the fifth, and deciding game, Ravenna dropped a 177-160 decision.

The Ravenna boys finished 12th in qualifying with a high game of 200 and team games of 918 and 813.

Holton’s boys finished 16th in the 16-team field. Its high baker game was 216 and their team games were 801 and 823.

The Holton girls finished 12th at 2,653. The Red Devils’ high baker game was 154 and their team games were 819 and 746.
