NORTON SHORES – The Western Michigan Christian girls’ basketball team fell short to Kalamazoo Christian, 63-52, to close out the regular season on Friday night.

“We played a competitive game tonight,” said WMC coach Sarah Koetsier. “We were within four points a couple of times, but we could never grasp the lead.”

The Warriors trailed 30-22 after the first half.

Kate Derdowski led the Warriors with 18 points and six rebounds. Ashley Folkema filled a stat line with 17 points, five rebounds, five blocks and four assists. Emersyn Daling added nine points and four assists.

“I am proud of how hard we worked tonight and how strong we played,” Koetsier said. “We look forward to our district games next week.”

WMC (14-6) will travel to Kent City on Wednesday to take on Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian in the Division 3 district opener.
