ZEELAND – The Grand Haven girls’ basketball team plowed past Holland 62-18 on Wednesday night in Division 1 district semifinal action.

The Bucs cruised to a 26-2 lead at the end of the opening quarter, led 41-11 at halftime and had a 52-15 advantage heading into the fourth.

Maddie Schopf paced Grand Haven with 17 points, which included five 3-point buckets. Gillian Sorrelle added 13 points and Mallory Woiteshek scored eight. Abbey Klumpel, Abby Spoonas and Kendall Gillis each added six points.

Klumpel dished out seven assists and Sorrelle had six. Woiteshek and Sponaas each pulled down six rebounds.

The Buccaneers will face Holland West Ottawa at 7 p.m. Friday at Zeeland East for a Division 1 district title. West Ottawa defeated Zeeland West in the other semifinal game.

Grand Haven is currently 18-5 on the season.
