ROCKFORD – The Mona Shores girls basketball team knocked out Cedar Springs in a tight 48-45 Division 1 district semifinal game on Wednesday night.

The teams were neck and neck at 13 points after the first quarter, but the Sailors managed to find a slight edge and led 29-26 at the half. The second quarter lead proved to be a game changer as the Sailors and Cedar Springs both scored 19 points in the second half.

Katie Phillips led all scorers with 19 points. Khaleeya Cook scored 17 points.

Mona Shores (15-9) will be back at Rockford at 7 p.m. Friday to face the Rams in the district final. Rockford defeated Muskegon 52-42 in the other district semifinal game.
