FRUITPORT – The Muskegon Catholic Central girls’ basketball team opened the Division 4 district tournament with a 57-34 win over host Fruitport Calvary Christian on Wednesday night.

The Crusaders jumped to a 30-19 first-half lead and continued to maintain their pace.

The Crusaders’ C. Kammeraad led the way with 11 points and Claire Carlton scored 10.

Cassie Dodd led the Eagles with 16 points. Liberty LaBrenz put up seven points and Ella Dykman scored six points.

Muskegon Catholic Central (9-12) will take on Grand Rapids Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. Friday for a district title. Sacred Heart defeated Tri-Unity Christian, 40-33 in the other semifinal game.

Fruitport Calvary Christian ended at 3-15.
