FLINT – The Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks saw their season come to an end on Thursday in the semifinals of the Division II Great Lakes District B.

The Lady Jayhawks suffered a 66-54 loss to St. Clair County Community College, a team that had beaten MCC during the early part of the season.

MCC led 14-9 heading into the second quarter, but St. Clair rolled up a 24-13 advantage in the second quarter to take a 33-27 halftime lead.

At one point in the third quarter, MCC fell behind by 10 points, but pulled to within four in the latter stages of the game before falling by 12.

“It is always tough losing your last game, but you have to look at the season as a whole,” said MCC coach Jason Cooper. “We improved this year and I’m very proud of my team and the staff. The work will start tomorrow for next season.”

The Lady Jayhawks were led by Tv’veonna Davis with 20 points, nine rebounds and seven steals. Arrionna Williams added 15 points. Remi Sponseller and Gaby Reeve added six points each. Reeve also had six rebounds. Maiya Hill had five points and seven rebounds.

St. Clair County Community College improved to 25-4. MCC finished 16-13.
