ALLENDALE – The Spring Lake boys basketball team season came to an end with a tough 62-43 loss to Grand Rapids Catholic Central in the Division 2 regional championship on Thursday night.

The Lakers fell behind 35-20 at the half.

“This was the fifth time in school history that a Spring Lake team has reached the regional championship game,” said Spring Lake coach Bill Core. “Unfortunately, we did not have an answer for Michigan commit and Mr. Basketball finalist, Durral Brooks.”

Brooks finished with 21 points for GR Catholic.

Eli Morrison put up 17 points, including five 3-pointers, for the Lakers, while Karson George added 10 points.

“I credit the seniors’ leadership for holding the team together through a season of adversity, tough losses, and injuries,” said Core. “A huge thank you to Liam Zandstra, Colin Burt, Wren Dephouse, Karson George along with three-year starters, Eli Morrison and Zach Schlepp.”

Spring Lake finished the season 14-13.
