FREMONT – The Fremont girls soccer team opened West Michigan Conference play with a 1-0 win against Oakridge on Wednesday evening.

The Packers outshot the Eagles 19-3.

The game was scoreless after the first half. Early in the second half, Mia Clemence bounced a shot off the Eagles’ keeper and Riley Chase followed up to net their lone goal.

Hallie Snyder posted the shutout in the net with three saves.

The Eagles’ goalkeeper Alayna Weiss made 18 saves.

Fremont (3-0, 1-0) will be at home on Monday for league action against Ravenna.

Oakridge (1-2, 0-1) will host Howard City Tri-County on Saturday.
