MUSKEGON – The Reeths-Puffer baseball team took the final game of their three-game series against Mona Shores on Wednesday.

Jaxson Whitaker helped lead the Rockets from the mound for a 2-0 shutout win.

Whitaker had a complete-game shutout and allowed just five hits and a walk while striking out nine batters.

Quinn Alderink scored one run and knocked in a run for the Rockets. Holden Earnes had two hits, while Lukas Johnson, Whitaker, Caiden Theisen and Ethan Frang each recorded hits.

The Sailors’ Hayden Smith struck out three and gave up five hits with two runs. He also paced the offense with a double. Jaden Thomas, Brady Recknagel, Ethan Ring and Hunter Krueger each tallied a hit.

Reeths-Puffer will be at home for a doubleheader against Holland on Tuesday.

Mona Shores is set to host Muskegon on Tuesday for a doubleheader.
