CUSTER — The Hesperia Panthers softball team captured two victories at the expense of Mason County Eastern on Thursday.
 
The Panthers won the opener 14-2 in five innings and 11-10 in the nightcap.
 
In the first game, Mason Eastern’s Miley Kessel pitched the full five innings, allowing four hits, walked 11 and struck out 10.
 
The Cardinals had four singles at the plate, with Kaden Robinson going 2-for-2 to lead the way and Brailyn Johnson and Hannah Kluth each had single hits.
 
In the second game, Kessel pitched 6.1 innings and allowed five hits, 12 walks and had 12 strikeouts.
 
Avery Crawford paced the Cardinals with three hits while Kessel finished with two doubles. Kluth, Aubrey Myers and Eline Schulstad each had singles.
 
Eastern dropped to 5-7 on the season and travels to Pine River for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday.
 
Hesperia is at Ravenna next Tuesday.
