LUDINGTON — The Ludington varsity girls softball team dropped a doubleheader to Traverse City West Friday by scores of 26-0 and 16-0 at home Friday night.

“Traverse City West has a lot of girls who can really hit the ball and they throw the ball very well too,” Ludington coach Sierra Holmes said. “That being said, we did do some things well tonight. We made some mistakes defensively, especially when they put a lot of pressure on us, but we also made some very nice plays.

“Our girls worked hard and stayed invested throughout the doubleheader. We have some very tough teams on our schedule to start the year, so we’re going to take some lumps, but we’re also going to learn a lot and improve.”

Madelyn Kenyon started in the circle in Game 1 and took the loss. She pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up 12 hits and six walks while striking out two. Jody Meisenheimer pitched the remaining 2/3 of an inning. She gave up five hits and three walks.

Offensively, the Orioles had two singles, one from Ayiana Rangel, and the other from Taesyah Hendricks.

Meisenheimer pitched the complete four innings in the second game. She allowed 12 hits while walking seven and striking out two.

Offensively, Keely Bowman had a double and Maddie Enbody and Taesyah Hendricks each had singles.
