The Spring Lake baseball team responded in a positive way on Thursday after a rough outing on Monday.

The Lakers were swept in a baseball doubleheader by Coopersville on Monday. They came back on Thursday and unleashed their bats in a 19-4 victory over the Broncos.

The Lakers are now 6-2 on the season and 4-2 in O-K Blue play.

Spring Lake led 1-0 after the first inning, 7-1 through three and 10-2 after four frames. The Lakers outscored the Broncos 9-2 in the final inning.

The Lakers pounded out 17 hits, led by Oliver Smies and Zane Stahl with three hits, three runs scored and three RBIs apiece.

Alex Batka also had three hits and scored twice while Gabe Trask and Will May had two hits.

May was the winning pitcher. He allowed seven hits while striking out four in five innings.

Spring Lake will take on Grand Haven in a doubleheader on Saturday on the road starting at 10 a.m.
