LAKEVIEW – The Shelby girls’ soccer team opened the season with a 2-0 shutout against Lakeview on Monday.

“It was a good first game for us,” said Shelby coach Pete Peterson. “We came out strong in the first half, but struggled with possession and shot selection in the second half.”

Kendall Zaverl opened the scoring early in the first half off an assist from Molli Schultz. Eden Visger netted the final score later in the first half with Zaverl making the assist.

Shelby (1-0) will travel to Whitehall on Wednesday.
