MUSKEGON – The Oakridge baseball team took two games from rival Orchard View in West Michigan Conference play on Tuesday.

The Eagles edged out the Cardinals 4-3 in game one, then cruised to a 19-0 shutout in the second.

In game one, The Eagles led 4-0 at the top of the sixth but the Cardinals took advantage of errors to pull within one run. Michael Wambaugh closed out the last inning with three straight strikeouts to clinch the win.

Wambaugh gave up two runs, two walks and struck out 12 batters. 

Vitek Benes collected two hits and a run. Wambaugh tallied two runs. 

The Cardinals’ Zach Peterson had two hits and a run, while Stephon Oakes added a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.

Brody Jennings allowed a hit and struck out three batters in the nightcap.

The Cardinals’ Curtis Scott gave up five hits, 11 runs, seven walks and had three strikeouts. Emilio Villareal came on in relief and allowed nine hits, eight runs and a walk.

Wambaugh led the Eagles’ offense with a grand slam homer, a two-run triple and seven RBI. Evan Miller contributed three hits, two runs and three RBI. Trevor Jones had two runs and two RBI, while Benes, Jennings and Landon Southard each scored two runs.

Also, Noah McFadden had two RBI for the Eagles.

Noah Smith had a hit for the Cardinals.

Oakridge will visit North Muskegon on Wednesday.

Orchard View will be at home on Thursday to face North Muskegon.
