SCOTTVILLE — It was an evening for celebration for Mason County Central’s softball team which swept a non-conference doubleheader against Brethren
 
On Senior Night, the Spartans swept the Bobcats, 14-4 and 16-6.
 
MCC celebrated its six seniors — Emily Adams, Aylin Davila, Grace Weinert, Wren Nelson, Riley Mast and Lillian Gregory.
 
“Today was a great way to end the season and get us pumped for districts,” said Spartans coach Jon Blake. “We also had the pleasure of celebrating six seniors and they all stepped up and contributed to these wins. There couldn’t have been a better script written for these games and the day. While I will certainly miss these seniors after the season is done, our work isn’t over yet.”
 
Nelson pitched a complete game in the opener and gave up four runs, two earned, walked two and struck out eight.
 
Offensively, the Spartans were led by Nelson with two doubles and a single, two runs scored and had three runs batted in. Davila, Weinert and Gregory also added hits.
 
Nelson also was in the circle for the second game and pitched another five innings. She gave up six runs, four earned, four hits and walked four while striking out nine.
 
Offensively, the Spartans were led by sophomore Aubrey Chye, who went 3 for 4 with two triples, three runs scored and three RBI. Riley Mast was right behind her with two hits, including a triple, and two runs scored. Adams had a hit, two walks and three runs scored. Weinert had a hit and an RBI.
