The Mona Shores Sailors came out fast on Tuesday night in boys’ lacrosse action, but could not sustain that early momentum.

The end result was an 11-8 loss to league-leading Lowell. Shores led 4-1 in the first half and 7-5 at halftime.

However, the second half was a different story as Lowell outscored Mona Shores 6-1.

“We had numerous unforced turnovers that turned into transition opportunities for Lowell,” said Sailor coach Murle Greer. “They are a good transition lacrosse team and we gave them a lot of opportunities with drops and bad passes.

“The defense did a great job in settled situations, but the Lowell transition game was lethal.”

The Sailors also came in a bit shorthanded with several players injured. That forced Coach Greer to make some adjustments in the lineup.

“We gass out in the second half and the first thing to go when you’re tired is decision making,” he said. “We put up a good right as long as we could, but you can’t give talented teams extra opportunities.”

Ezra Carefelle led Shores with three goals. Gavin Collins added two. Cullen Conrad, Connor Osterhard and Quinn Addicott each scored a goal. Defender Andrew Baker had three ground balls and forced five turnovers.

Goalkeeeper Ben Warren made 10 saves.
