FREMONT – Montague and Fremont split a West Michigan Conference baseball doubleheader on Tuesday night.

Montague won the opener, 9-3, and Fremont came back for a 3-2 victory in the nightcap.

In the opener, Fremont’s Paxton Borgman took the loss. He allowed six runs, eight hits and struck out four.

Deagan Klimek collected three hits and Johnny Keena had two hits. Chase Mercer drove in two runs and Ben Mellema stole two bases.

Kleena had the mound for the Packers in Game 2 and gave up five hits, one run and one walk. He struck out nine batters. 

Klimek had an RBI and two stolen bases, while Easton Herman, Keena, Gabe Jones, Borgman and Luke DeLong each added a hit.

Fremont hosts Covenant Christian on Thursday.

Montague visits Western Michigan Christian on Thursday.
