HESPERIA – The Shelby baseball team captured the top spot in the Ken Smith Memorial tournament on Saturday.

The Tigers opened with a 10-3 win over White Cloud on the back of strong pitching by Dayday Garcia.

Trevor Weiss went the distance for his first varsity win as the Tigers routed Hesperia 11-0 in game two.

The Tigers played a rematch with White Cloud in the final and came out on top, 8-2. Eli Kelley posted his first varsity win of the season.

Lalo and Dayday Garcia accumulated six hits and five RBI throughout the day. Evan Waller added six hits, while Chase Simon and Cam Smith each chipped in four hits.

Shelby (10-7) will travel to Potterville on Tuesday.
