EUGENE, Oregon – Two area athletes earned All-America honors in last week’s Nike Outdoor Nationals at the University of Oregon.

The event, at historic Hayward Field, featured the top high school track athletes from across the country.

Grand Haven’s Seth Norder finished first in the mile run while Fruitport Calvary Christian standout Bradley Richards finished sixth in the high jump.

Both Norder and Richards qualified for the elite meet on the strength of their finishes at the MHSAA state championship meet. Norder won the Division 1 state title in the mile and Richards came in second in the Division 4 meet.

Norder completed the mile in 4:02.20 to take first in a field of 49 runners. Norder is heading to Michigan State University in the fall to continue his academic and athletic career.

Richards cleared 6-7 for a season best jump at the prestigious event. His effort was sixth best among the 36 qualifiers in the event. He will be a senior at Fruitport Calvary Christian in the fall.

Richards is the Muskegon County record holder with a personal best of 6-10 that he cleared in the Division 4 state finals in 2023.
