MUSKEGON – The Grand Haven Bucs hockey team opened its play in the 35th annual Stan Konrad Hockey Showcase with matchups against Canton and Midland on Friday and Saturday at Lakeshore Sports Centre in Muskegon.
The Buc fell on Friday to an 8-7 in a sudden-death shootout to Canton while dropping its Saturday match, 4-2, to Midland.
Noah Noon had two goals and an assist while Avery Anderson scored a pair of goals against Canton. Tyler Sparks, Carter Wells and CJ Henke each had goals in Saturday’s game.
The Bucs built a 7-5 lead with under five minutes left to play in regulation against Canton, but back-to-back Cobra goals sent the contest into a shootout.
Grant Wheeler and Keaton Poel each scored goals in Grand Haven’s loss to Midland.
Grand Haven next faces Holland West Ottawa in an OK-Red matchup on Wednesday.
