NORTH MUSKEGON – The Division 4 state-ranked North Muskegon girls soccer team held off Hart in a 5-3 West Michigan Conference victory on Monday evening.
The Pirates hadn’t scored a single goal on the Norse since 2014, but found a way to put up multiple scores against the state power.
The Norse took control early and led 3-1 by halftime.
However, the Pirates came out of the break swinging and quickly tied the game up at three goals apiece. The Norse held their composure to take back the lead and didn’t let it go the rest of the way.
Emmy Creed led the Norse with two goals and two assists. Alex Johnson chipped in a pair of scores and Addison Chase scored one goal. Addison Reid, Kayla Cihak and Karrie Baldwin each posted an assist.
The Pirates’ Breslyn Porter netted a pair of scores, while Olivia Bradley threw in a goal and an assist. Devyn Adams had two assists in the loss for Hart.
Kendall Hibbard played a big part in the Norse’s win, making key saves in net for the Norse.
Pirates goalie Emma Jeffries made 11 saves and Bailey Klotz got her first varsity experience with a big penalty kick save.
North Muskegon (3-2, 1-0) hosts Western Michigan Christian on Thursday.
Hart (0-3-1, 0-1) will be at home for conference action against Montague on Wednesday.
