Kent City outlasted Holton 30-12 in a matchup of previously unbeaten CSAA Silver teams Friday night. The Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Red Devils fall to 2-1.

After a scoreless first quarter, both teams found the end zone in the second quarter and Kent City took a 14-6 lead into halftime. 

The Eagles scored again in the third quarter to extend the lead to 22-6, but Holton responded early in the fourth to cut their deficit to 22-12.

The Red Devils had several other opportunities to score, including three drives that stalled inside the red zone, and with seven minutes left they missed a 30-yard field goal. 

Following the miss, Kent City marched down the field and put the game away with a touchdown to make the score 30-12 with less than three minutes left.

Mason Westbrook had a big game for the Eagles, running for 227 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries.

Kent City’s defense held Holton to 84 passing yards and 91 rushing yards.

Holton quarterback Austin Fowler was 13 for 20 passing for 150 yards and a touchdown, while adding another score on the ground. Austin Hawkins rushed for 73 yards on 13 carries and caught three passes for 68 yards, including a 55 yard touchdown, to go with nine tackles on defense.

Dylan Cartwright led the Red Devils with ten tackles and Jaden Israel had eight.

Kent City’s defense held Holton to 91 yards rushing and 84 yards passing overall.
