It was a hard fought game for the Muskegon Community College Jayhawk women’s basketball team, but they came up short in a 66-52 setback to the Kellogg Community College Lady Bruins.
“After halftime, we came out flat,” MCC assistant coach Sandra Bush said. “We did not score another basket until there was 9:56 left in the game.”
Kellogg owned a 30-26 lead at the half.
Alex Torres came off the bench and provided a spark for the Jayhawks and finished with 14 points, including 8-for-11 from the free-throw line.
“We played our hears out and gave it our all,” Torres said. “I just knew we had this game. We will be ready next time. I know I was having fun and made those points for the team.”
Lindsey Burnside led MCC with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Sonnie Kurnat had four assists.
