The Ludington Orioles jumped out to a 12-7 first quarter lead but could not maintain that success as they fell to Manistee, 41-12.

Ludington turned the ball over twice and struggled to convert on third downs during the contest.

Trey Forkinski, Aidan Gilchrist, and Stephen Weinert powered the Ludington’s offense. Forkinski connected on a 36 yard touchdown pass to Gilchrest in the first quarter. Weinert punched in a four-yard touchdown run in the first quarter as well.

Forkinski ended the day throwing for 56 yards and rushing for 46 yards for Ludington. Weinert carried for 29 yards and a score. Gilchrist led the receiving charge with 48 yards on two receptions and a touchdown.

The Orioles received a strong defensive outing from Gage Jones who had nine tackles. Eddie Gamble and Levi Laman chipped in with good performances of their own with six and four tackles, respectively.

Ludington drops to 1-2 on the season and hosts Muskegon Catholic Central next Friday.
