HART — After a slow start that saw it fall behind, 2-1 in sets the Hart girls volleyball team rallied to take the next three and snare a 3-2 win over visiting Mason County Central in a West Michigan Conference-Rivers match at home Tuesday night.

 
The Pirates dropped the first two sets, 21-25 and 22-25 but found their energy and fought back and swept the last three sets 25-15, 25-11 and 15-11.
 
“We started getting the ball to our power hitters,” said Hart head coach Amanda Van Sickle. “The pace of the match changed, and we were in complete control.”
 
Addi Hovey led the Pirates with 20 kills, while chipping in with two digs and one block. Gabby Schmieding contributed 10 assists, two aces, two kills and one block.
 
MaKayla Rockwell tied Schmieding with 10 assists and also had four digs, two aces and one kill. Mariana VanAgtmael served for eight aces while adding 11 digs, one assist and one kill.
 
Laura Bitely contributed five digs. Mya Chickering had 10 kills, three aces and three digs. Rayah Helenhouse chipped in a dig. Kelsey Copenhaver had one assist and the set-point kill.
 
“Our serve receive and digging were not where they should be,” said Spartans head coach Erin Hatch.
 
Alayna Rafter finished a perfect 18-of-18 serving , 22-of-26 in digs and 51-of-53 in sets. Tori Dunblazier and Wren Nelson both hit well in the match. Nelson was 22-of-27 in attacks with seven kills, and Dunblazier went 29-of-37 with eight kills.
 
Nelson also was 11-of-13 serving, 14-of-21 in serve receive and had one block and one assist. Dunblazier was 17-of-19 serving with three aces, 17-of-21 in serve receive, 16-of-19 in digs with one block.
 
Charlie Banks was 15-of-15 serving with two aces, 18-of-23 in serve receive, 9-of-14 in digs, 12-of-14 in attacks with five kills and she also had three blocks.
 
Aylin Davila finished 8-of-10 serving, 4-of-7 in serve receive, 12-of-14 attacking with two kills and had two blocks. Ashlyn McKay was 11-of-12 serving, 7-of-11 in serve receive, 4-of-10 in digs, 12-of-14 attacking with two kills and had two blocks. Riley Mast had one ace, one kill and two blocks.
 
The Pirates improved their record to 11-2-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Hart heads to Wyoming on Saturday to take part in the Freedom Invitational before heading to Hesperia for their next league match next Tuesday.
 
Mason County slipped to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference. The Spartans are off until next Tuesday when they take on North Muskegon at home.
