The Mona Shores football team improved to 4-0 with a 33-14 non-conference win at Rockford (1-3) on Friday.

The game was scoreless after the first quarter. Mona Shores added a pair of scores in the second quarter to lead 14-0 at the half.

Caden Broersma found James Gilbert for a 15-yard touchdown to open the scoring with 5:44 remaining in the first half. Broersma then ran in a three-yard score with just nine seconds remaining in the half.

After the break, Sincere Dent took over. The standout running back ripped off three touchdowns in the second half, including 64- and 55-yard scoring runs.

The Rams found the end zone twice in the second half, but never threatened the lead.

Broersma finished 12 of 18 passing for 146 yard and a TD and rushed for 59 yards on 13 carries for Mona Shores.

The Sailors were led on the outside by Gilbert who totaled five catches for 61 total yards.

Jacob Wahleber led the Mona Shores defense with 11 tackles, Dent totaled 10 tackles and an interception while Kolbe Trovinger had 10 tackles. Jordan Calloway had eight tackles to round out the Sailors’ defense.

Mona Shores returns to O-K Black play next week against Kenowa Hills.
