Host Western Michigan Christian Friday scored three goals in the last seven minutes of the first half and added two more the second half for a 5-0 win over Shelby.

Julie Merz had two goals and an assist while Alexys Riksen had a goal and an assist. Mykayla Denison added a goal, as did Jessica Kinnucan and Alli Langeland and Taylor Denison each had an assist.

The Warriors, know 5-1-1 on the season, outshot the Tigers 25-4. WMC keeper Lindsey Johnson had four saves en route to the shutout.

“This was a great game and gave us a lot of learning opportunities,” WMC coach David Hulings said.  “Our ball movement was quite good the more the game was played and our passing improved as we went along.   I think our conditioning was really important tonight.   Even though we played (Thursday) night, we seemed to get stronger as the game went on.”
