Orchard View brought the pressure on both sides of the ball against Spring Lake in the Class B district opener at OV on Monday.

Jayshonna Blackshire was unstoppable for Orchard View as she poured in 28 points and had four assists in the win. The junior guard also shot 8 of 9 from the free throw line.

The Cardinals defense was on top of its game as it held Spring Lake to single digits in each of the first three quarters. OV led 21-10 at half and 29-19 to start the fourth quarter.

Also pacing OV was Daejia Hill with 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Chelsie Nash put in six points and five steals.

Spring Lake’s Reiko Johnson scored 13 points and was 8 of 10 from the free throw line. Emily VanWingen scored nine points and Kelsee Zuidema chipped in seven points.
