The Spring Lake soccer team won its fourth consecutive Division 2 district championship Thursday with a 2-0 victory over Reeths-Puffer.

The Lakers, who are ranked third in the state and won the Lakes 8 Conference title this season, now move on to the regional semifinals Tuesday, when they will play either Northview or Forest Hills Northern in East Lansing.

“It was sort of a grind-it-out game, but if it means winning a district, I’ll take that,” said Spring Lake Coach Jeremy Thelen, whose team advanced to the Division 2 state finals last fall.

Ryan Zietlow and Lucas Robiero scored the goals for Spring Lake while Keegan George had an assist. Goalkeeper Joe Czajka stopped four Reeths-Puffer shots to collect the shutout.
