The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team dominated from the opening minutes and rolled to a 77-60 victory Saturday over the Alma College JV squad.
Alma scored the first two points, then the Jayhawks controlled the game the rest of the way, leading by 19 at halftime and by as much as 24 in the second half before clearing their bench. MCC outrebounded the visitors 53-31.
MCC’s Eddie Tornes for the second straight night recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Joining him with his own double-double was Deshawn Sanders Jr. with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Marcus Tumblin continued his consistent play off the bench with 16 points.
“It was a solid win for us,” said Jayhawks Coach Dave Schlump. “It’s always nice to see all of our guys get in to play and get some well deserved minutes. I thought we shared the ball well and now we get to go back to practice and continue to get better before these next few games before league play starts. I’m proud of our guys.”
