The Kent City volleyball team captured its first Class C district title since 2000 on Friday night.

Kent City won the first set by a service score of 29-27, lost the second set 25-23, then cruised past the Bulldogs 25-15 and 25-19 during the final two sets.

The Eagles, who improved to 42-5-1 on the season, will face Saranac in the regional semifinals on Tuesday night at Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian.

Kassidy Heeringa paced Kent City with 17 kills and 23 assists, while Meghan Boyd added 45 digs and 13 kills. Kaitlyn Geers chipped in with chipped in with 12 kills and three blocks for the Eagles and Kelsey Krueger contributed with 40 digs and two aces.

The Bulldogs were led by Amber Jacobs with 31 kills and 25 digs while Hayley Dekker chipped in with 31 digs. Megan Crowley added 36 assists for Ravenna.
